Our Capability
Smarter integrity decisions—without shutdown
We use Acoustic Emission (AE) to “listen” for ultrasonic stress waves released by growing defects while assets are under load. The result is fast, in-service screening that localizes active damage and focuses follow-up NDT only where it matters—reducing outage time, scaffolding, and cost.
Acoustic Emission
Acoustic Emission Testing Capabilities at a Glance
- Quick in-service inspection: Large assets like tanks, spheres, pressure vessels, pipelines etc.
- Detects & locates active defects: Cracks, corrosion, pitting, leakages
- Rapid coverage: Non-invasive externally mounted sensors with minimum site preparation, provide quick inspection window.
- Actionable outputs: Defect source maps & severity ranking, targeted secondary NDT recommendations (e.g. UT/PAUT, MFL).
What We Inspect
Above-ground storage tanks (including bottom/floor risk screening).
Pressure vessels, columns, reactors.
Buried and above-ground pipelines & critical welds.
Spheres and bullets; specialty items as per project scope.
What We Detect
Active crack/stress activity under operating or proof-test loads.
Corrosion activity and associated acoustic sources.
Leaks and abnormal flow/noise events identifiable by AE signatures.
How Our AE Works
- Deploy piezoelectric sensors externally around the asset; verify coupling.
- Monitor the asset under inspection during normal operation or controlled pressurization for fixed duration.
- Analyze acquired data for defect type confirmation, defect severity & location determination.
- Report the inspection findings with clear follow-up recommendations.
Operating Conditions
- In-service plant assets at normal operating conditions (external loading may at times be needed).
- Insulated/ fire-proofed piping, vessels operating at elevated or low temperatures.
- Buried pipelines, tanks.
Quality, Standards & R&D
- Our inspection procedures align with relevant international standards and practices.
- Calibrated equipment, qualified inspectors and project specific SOPs ensure inspections are carried out professionally.
- We continually enhance our inspection and data analysis algorithms through continuous in-house research & development activities.
